Disney set for a Scarborough holiday
18th Aug 2010
Disney are about to embark on a Scarborough holiday after signing a deal with Ian Usher 46, worth tens of thousands to tell the story of how he sold his life.
The deal means Scarborough maybe the destination for Disney when they start shooting the feature length film.
Ian Usher who used to own a Jet skiing business in Scarborough on the North Bay with childhood friend Bruce Jones resorted to selling his life on eBay after him and his wife split up after twelve years together.
He said.
‘I went into partnership with my good friend Bruce and set up a Jet Skiing business for tourists on a Scarborough holiday. I ran the business for five summer seasons and had an amazing time lots of hard work but just as much fun and laughter, it was also here where I met my wife who was on a Scarborough holiday at the time.’
However after moving to Australia with his wife things started to take a turn for the worst and after splitting from his wife Ian Usher decided to give his life up that he had built and go and pursue his dreams.
‘I just decided to sell everything and go and live out my dreams. The amazing deal included a three bed, two bath home in a suburb of Perth, a Mazda car, a 140 mph Kawasaki motorcycle and Jet ski.’
Unfortunately an undisclosed buyer who was thought to have bought the £192,000 deal fell through in July 2008.
However this did not stop Mr Usher who simply re-auctioned his house with an estate agent and embarked on a mission to complete 100 goals in 100 weeks in which he has completed 93 of them so far.
The goals included climbing the Statue of Liberty and Eiffel Tower, attending the Rio Carnival, seeing the Grand Canyon, snowboarding in Dubai, visiting the Taj Mahal and spending the night in a haunted house alone.
Mr Usher still does have some goals to complete including learning how to lucid dream, gathering five Ian Ushers in one room and securing a book deal for ‘100 goals’ which he wrote about his around the world experiences.
And now with a deal worth tens of thousands to turn his life into a motion picture it seems Disney may be looking forward to a Scarborough holiday after securing the rights to turn this incredible man’s life into a film.
