Ryanair Cuts Number of Cheap Flights Abroad as More Brits Choose UK Hotels for Their Summer Break

Ryanair is to cut capacity at Stansted airport in the winter according to an article on TravelMole, an online Community for The Travel & Tourism Industry.

The number of weekly flights is to drop by 14%, resulting in 900,000 fewer passengers being carried.

The no-frills carrier is to reduce the number of flights from the airport from more than 1,850 to less than 1,600.

The number of aircraft based at the airport will be cut by a quarter or eight aircraft, down to 28 from 36.

The carrier blamed high oil prices, the cost of using Stansted and an alleged failure by the Civil Aviation Authority to control costs for airlines using the airport. Although, if the many articles published recently in the press are to be believed, more and more UK Holiday makers are choosing to take their annual break at home, choosing traditional UK Seaside resorts such as Scarborough over holidays abroad.
